Hundreds of landlords fined for overcrowding in their flats

An overcrowded bachelor flat discovered by Abu Dhabi Municipality14/02/2015 (7Days – UAE): Hundreds of landlords have been fined for breaching housing regulations by allowing up to 12 workers to live in single-room apartments.Abu Dhabi Municipality released new figures as they issued renewed warnings that those letting out private apartments to more than three tenants face heavy fines.Officials said they found up to 12 bachelors sleeping in bunk beds in mostly small studio apartments. They said 223 landlords and firms have been prosecuted, with 140 having already been through the courts.The violators were all caught in the Mussafah area of the city between August and this month during a crackdown on offending landlords.The municipality has also issued warnings to 965 people found flouting housing laws during the same period…
