22Miró exhibition completes SSM’s ‘Catalan Trilogy’/09/2014 (Today’s Zaman – Turkey): “Dreams can come true.” You must have either uttered or heard this sentence at least once in your life, though you may not truly believe it. But now it is high time that you experience how a dream is coming true in a museum overlooking the Bosporus.The museum is İstanbul’s Sakıp Sabancı Museum (SSM), which is currently home to the exhibition “Joan Miró — Women, Birds and Stars.” Apart from being a major showcase for the Catalan artist’s works, the exhibition is like a symphony where you can feel the visual music composed and conducted by Miró himself, making you feel as though in a dream.On display from Sept. 23 to Feb. 1, the show brings together a total of 125 paintings, lithographs, etchings and drawings as well as textile and ceramic works focusing on the artist’s later period, paying particular attention to the themes of women, birds and stars, as the title suggests. Inspired by the Mediterranean landscape and culture, Miro used these themes for a period spanning over four decades…
